These 8th grade girls attended the Girl Power in STEM Conference at UCA on April 28. They learned about career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math which some girls shy away from. The conference commended the girls for their current successes while helping them to visualize what they could become if they aim high. The featured speaker was just such a girl. Dr Amber Straughn is a NASA astrophysicist who grew up on a farm in Bee Branch.
