Congratulations to Avery Cooper for being selected as the SJS 2025 HOBY representative! Avery will attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership seminar, an annual 3 day event for 10th grade students held at Southern Arkansas University. Students will learn the skill set necessary to be a leader, discover what their individual leadership style may be, connect with leaders around the state, and build lasting friendships to prepare themselves to make a positive impact in their school and community. Way to go, Avery!

St. Joseph 9th grade Physical Science students have been learning about the properties of elements. As a part of their studies, they observed the reactions between certain compounds and fire in their Flame Test Lab last week. "This flame test lab helps students learn about the relationship between color of light emitted by a metal and its atomic structure, as well as energy, electrons, and electromagnetic spectrum. After students observed the fire color change, they researched the properties of the chemicals, and how the fire color was changed!" explained Ms. Abigail Barker, Physical Science Teacher.
