St. Joseph's Junior High Quiz Bowl Team has recently had great success and now it's the Middle School's turn. Assistant Principal and Quiz Bowl Coach, Ms. Hannah Belew, reports that its team competed in the Elementary Division Tournament for Private and Charter Schools held at the Arch Ford Educational Cooperative in Plumerville on February 20th.The Bulldogs won 2nd Place overall.
They first defeated Conway Christian and Valley Christian (Russellville) in seeded play. The Championship Game found them competing against the Sacred Heart Bright Knights from Morrilton. We competed well but were outscored 330-205. "I am very proud of the hard work our students put into this," Ms. Belew said. "Since we were in the top two, we'll return on March 12th for the Finals Tournament with all the other top two schools!"
The team includes Elizabeth Sherman, 5th grade, Braden Kordsmeier, 4th grade, Laney Henderson, 6th grade, Mary Jane Rappold, 4th grade, Cooper Boyd, 4th grade, Cooper Schroeder, 5th grade, Caitlin Mallett, 6th grade, Avery Hiegel, 5th grade, Soren Horpedahl, 6th grade, Michael Remetic, 6th grade, and Max Kordsmeier, 5th grade.
