Children (and kids at heart) got a special treat at the Christmas Eve Mass Sunday. At its conclusion, Father Connell donned a Santa hat and read the poem "The Night Before Christmas." He also gave them a blessing afterwards.
This historic poem was first published anonymously under the title "An Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas in 1823. It was later attributed to Clement Clarke Moore who claimed authorship in 1837. However, there are some who say Henry Livingston, Jr. should be credited for this classic verse.
