Students attended "Appeals on Wheels" April 6

St. Joseph High School's 9th and 10th grade classes visited Conway High School on April 6 to observe the Arkansas Supreme Court's "Appeals on Wheels" event. More than 1,000 students from around the area came to watch prosecuting and defense attorneys present arguments from a real court case currently being contested in front of the high court.
The Arkansas Supreme Court, which consists of seven justices, has been presenting “Appeals on Wheels” since 2002. It started this event so students at schools unable to come to Little Rock's Justice Building could also have the experience of watching the Court at work and asking the justices questions afterwards about the legal system.
Our students observed an appeal of a murder case in which the convicted man is requesting a new trial based on the allegation that the Faulkner County Circuit Court erred by "denying his suppression motion" regarding a search of his property in 2018.
