Castaways Celebrate Christmas

St. Joseph Middle School performed a Christmas musical, "Away In a Mango", on December 5th in the Spiritan Center auditorium.
Led by 6th grade actors and a series of side choruses, it told the story of a festive holiday cruise turned perilous when an unexpected storm hurls its passengers onto an almost deserted island. Almost because there was one lone inhabitant who'd been marooned there years before.
The play then evolved into a retelling of Jesus' birth and how, like the passengers' own journey, is a story of lost people, unable to save themselves, who are rescued by a long-awaited Savior.
The performance was organized and directed by music teacher Margaret Teeling, along with assistance from Principal Matt Tucker and other faculty.
