Surviving an Amazon Adventure

Ms. Alicia Yryle's two 9th grade English classes recently worked on a group survivor project inspired by their reading of a short story entitled "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell.

The students imagined they were aboard a plane that crashed in the Amazon jungle which forced them to find ways of surviving. This included addressing the group's needs for food, water, shelter, and safety. They also had to determine how they might return to civilization. Additionally, because of the rash of fires burning in that area, the students were asked to research the importance of the Amazon region to the rest of the world.

After the different groups made their presentations a winner was chosen from each class. Kendall Fillippino, Clayton Vote, and Presli Webb were selected from 1st Period while 4th period's Izabella Creel, Chloe Skinner and Ian Washum were recognized.
