BATTLE OF THE BOOKS (B.O.B.)

Club Sponsor: Mrs. Jennifer Fullerton

Come to the fun of literature, excellent stories, reading with friends, and winning the big BATTLE!!!

The Battle of the Books, fondly known as B.O.B., is designed as an independent reading program for middle school students as it incorporates healthy competition. The competition is structured to be fun; it challenges students to be knowledgeable about literature and promotes teamwork! The goal is to recognize students who enjoy reading and to encourage other students to experience reading in a new manner.

The program invites students at various reading levels and grade levels to participate. The independent reading requirements afford students who read at a slower pace the same opportunities as other participants. The program is not designed to prohibit students because of marginal reading grades. Therefore, any limitations are self-imposed. B.O.B. promotes enthusiasm, self-discipline, and sportsmanship.

Students meet throughout the year with their B.O.B. teams. Teams compete in two levels before being selected to go to the finals in May to battle against teams from other Catholic schools from across the state of Arkansas.
