Dear Parents of Confirmands,
Confirmation is quickly approaching! On Saturday, September 24th, all the candidates are invited to a Time of Reflection from 9:00-11:00AM in the Church (please note the meeting place has changed). During this time the candidates will be given an opportunity to: a.) reflect on the sacrament they are about to receive b.) go to confession in preparation for being confirmed c.) sign up to read one of the readings during Confirmation Mass or be a gift bearer.
As you know, the Confirmation Mass is scheduled for Friday, October 7, 2016 at 7pm. We ask that candidates arrive at Church with their sponsors at 5:45PM in order to be ready to begin the Sponsor/Candidate practice at 6:00PM. Following the practice, candidates and sponsors will line up in the baptistery area, or outside weather permitting, in order to process in before the Bishop at the beginning of Mass. Directly following Mass, all the candidates will remain seated until they are called to the altar to have a group picture taken with the Bishop by a professional photographer. After the group picture is taken, parents will have an opportunity to take pictures of their candidate individually or with the Bishop. We will have a small reception in the Baptistery area following pictures where candidates can pick up their Confirmation certificate and celebrate with family. If your candidate’s sponsor is not able to be present for the Mass, please notify me of who will be the proxy and stand in on the sponsor’s behalf. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
Finally, being mindful of the sacredness of the occasion, we ask that all candidate and sponsors adhere to the following dress code.
Ladies: Dresses or skirts of conservative length and conservative necklines; or a pant suit appropriate for Mass. Spaghetti strap or strapless dresses must be worn with a sweater or something covering the shoulders. No flip flops or athletic shoes. Gentlemen: Navy, black or khaki trousers, a solid colored shirt with a collar, and a tie. No jeans, athletic shoes, or shoes without socks. A jacket is optional.
I look forward to seeing you on September 24th!
